Understanding the association between mental health and all-cause mortality, and the role of environmental and lifestyle factors

Mental health is an important risk factor for suicide and self-harm. People with mental health are in a lower status of life and a higher risk for adverse outcomes. Limited studies explore the all-cause mortality caused by mental health. At the same time, Interaction between mental health and environmental and/or lifestyle is needed to explore using large cohort. In this study, we need the data of Tier 1 and would like to apply data of mental health, lifestyle including physical activity, dietary behavior, sleep, sedentary behavior et al, environmental variables such as pollution, temperature et al and reason of death. Using the data of UKB, we will: 1) explore the association between mental health and all-cause mortality; 2) explore the association between mental health and all-cause mortality by environmental factors; 3) explore the association between mental health and all-cause mortality by lifestyle factors; 4) explore the risk of suicide attempt and suicide associated with mental health, environmental and lifestyle factors.
