Heart failure and heart rhythm abnormalities are diseases that can cause harm and death. We do not fully understand how these diseases work, and why some people develop them at early age while others reach 80 years with no heart problems. Using the large cohort of participant from the UK Biobank, we will investigate how genes, proteins, and other markers contribute to heart failure and heart rhythm abnormalities. We will also use these data to make new tools for earlier prediction of these disorders. We hope that our research will i) help us better understand how these diseases work, ii) help us find new medicines and iii) help us better identify people who might need earlier treatment.
