Abstract

Highlights

Based on the theory of social determinants of health, the multi-dimensional socioeconomic status factors were evaluated.

Modifiable lifestyle factors mediate the occurrence of diabetes in the individuals with prediabetes.

Lower socioeconomic status increased diabetes risk, with lifestyle factors explaining about one-third of this association.

Results emphasize addressing socioeconomic disparities and supporting lifestyle improvements to reduce diabetes risk.
