Our Participant Contact Centre at UK Biobank is truly unique, playing a pivotal role in the largest health study of its kind and maintaining ongoing engagement with all 500,000 participants. Our service sits at the heart of this mission, ensuring that every participant’s experience is exceptional.
Imaging
Our dedicated Radiography team help improve the health of everyone, everywhere, today and for generations to come, capturing quality images during the standardised scanning of thousands of people who have volunteered to participate in our revolutionary long-term study.
Our Health Research Assistant (HRA) team’s primary responsibility each day is to provide a positive experience to all participants while gathering a variety of baseline measurements through numerous clinical assessments.

Communications
The Communications team helps to tell UK Biobank’s story – showing participants and researchers how their involvement is helping to drive our understanding of disease and how best to prevent, diagnose and treat it.
We help inspire researchers, engage participants and keep colleagues up-to-date through videos, photos, interviews, write-ups and reports. We work with the media, run our website, Intranet and social media channels, host events including our Annual Scientific Conference, produce newsletters and much more.
Facilities
The Estates and Technical Team at UK Biobank plays a vital role in ensuring that all systems, equipment, and services remain fully operational to support the organisation’s mission.
Our work involves not only maintaining legacy and obsolete systems but also integrating cutting-edge technologies to keep pace with innovation. A key focus is the design and construction of our new headquarters – an ambitious project that reflects our commitment to securing a future as forward-thinking and pioneering as our past.
Finance
The Finance Team at UK Biobank plays a crucial role in ensuring that our charitable funding is used efficiently and effectively to support our mission.

Health, Safety and Environment
The Health, Safety and Environment team at UK Biobank plays a vital role in formulating and implementing the health, safety and environmental arrangements for our operations, by engaging and coordinating with colleagues who are experts in their disciplines.

Laboratory
The Laboratory team at UK Biobank are custodians of more than 17 million biological samples stored for research. We send samples all over the world for tests that help researchers understand disease better.
The team is really varied with roles working in the laboratory handling samples to project management, oversight of quality, training, innovation roles and many more. This diverse team works together to ensure high quality samples are delivered to researchers.
