The purpose of the Information Governance Committee is to monitor and enhance UK Biobank’s overall strategy and operational methods of securely collecting, storing and distributing information relating to the UK Biobank dataset.
The remit of the Information Governance Committee includes:
- UK Biobank information systems and system security
- Data provision from and to UK Biobank
- Risks, regulation and reporting
Chair of the Information Governance Committee
Bernard Taylor CVO, CBE, DL chairs the UK Biobank Information Governance Committee.
Bernard is a British scientist who has worked in the manufacturing industry and corporate finance at a senior level for many years. He became an Honorary Fellow of St John’s in 2008 and is Deputy Steward of the University of Oxford. He has been a Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire since 2011 and was appointed CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2017 for services to business, education and the arts.
He is currently Chairman of Thomas White Oxford Limited, responsible for delivering Oxford North, the new global life sciences district for Oxford.
Bernard is on the Board of the Medical Sciences Division and the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division.
