Directions

By foot

The Big Data Institute is located on the Old Road Campus in Headington.

If you are walking from the Headington shops (London Road):

  1. Head south down Windmill Road or Lime Walk onto Old Road.
  2. Once you enter the campus via the main entrance on Old Road, follow the signs for the Big Data Institute. This is situated between the Kennedy Institute and the Target Discovery Institute.

By bus

The Old Road Campus is well-served by several key bus routes providing frequent links to Oxford City Centre and the railway station.

From the City Centre: The 15 bus departs from St Aldates approximately every 15 minutes, with a journey time of about 15–20 minutes.

Bus Numbers: The 15, 100, 700, ST2, and U5 all stop directly at or near the campus.

Nearest Stop: Alight at the Old Road Campus stop on Roosevelt Drive or the Warneford Hospital stop on Old Road.

By rail

The nearest station is Oxford Railway Station, located approximately 3 miles away.

  • Travel from station: You can take a taxi from the station forecourt (approx. 10–15 minutes). It is a lengthy walk (approx. 50 minutes).

Cycling

Oxford is a cycling-friendly city, and the Old Road Campus is equipped with extensive cycle parking, including covered racks located directly between the Big Data Institute and the Kennedy Institute.

By car

SatNav: use postcode OX3 7LF.

  • From the A40 (Eastern By-Pass Road), take the exit toward Headington.
  • Follow London Road (A420) toward the city centre, then turn left onto Windmill Road.
  • Turn right onto Old Road, and the entrance to the Old Road Campus will be on your right.

Parking

There is a multi-storey car park in the Innovation Building for permit holders.

Visitors are advised to use the Thornhill Park & Ride and take the 400 or 700 bus to the campus, as street parking in Headington is extremely limited and largely restricted to residents.
